Two Years of Partnership: Celebrating Our Journey with Habitat for Humanity Australia
Two years ago, Habitat for Humanity Australia became the ALAND Foundation’s very first charity partner. What started with a shared commitment to supporting local communities has grown into a partnership built on trust, collaboration and a genuine desire to make a lasting difference.
To celebrate this milestone, ALAND Foundation Director Monique Hrsto recently sat down with Habitat for Humanity Australia CEO Penny Kaleta to reflect on the journey so far, the impact the partnership has made and the importance of businesses and charities working together to support those who need it most.

Looking back on the past two years, Monique said the anniversary was an opportunity to celebrate not only the partnership itself, but the people behind it.
Those two years have seen the partnership evolve into something much more than financial support. Together, the ALAND Foundation and Habitat for Humanity have provided safe accommodation, restored homes through hands-on volunteering and created opportunities for people to rebuild their lives with dignity and confidence.
A Partnership Built on Shared Values
From the beginning, the partnership has been driven by a shared belief that meaningful change happens when organisations come together with a common purpose.
Over the past two years, ALAND has donated rental accommodation valued at more than $100,000 through Habitat for Humanity’s Subsidised Housing and Affordable Rental Program (SHARP), providing women escaping domestic violence with a safe and secure place to start a new chapter.
At the same time, ALAND employees have contributed more than 100 volunteer hours through Habitat for Humanity’s Brush with Kindness program, helping restore homes and crisis accommodation for vulnerable members of the community.
These initiatives represent more than impressive numbers. They represent people finding stability, communities growing stronger and volunteers seeing first-hand the difference they can make.
For Penny Kaleta, partnerships like this are essential to helping Habitat for Humanity continue its work.
“The partnership between Habitat for Humanity and ALAND is really important. We couldn’t do what we do without our corporate partnerships, and ALAND is a shining example of what a good corporate partnership looks like.”
Penny said ALAND’s support has extended far beyond volunteering and fundraising.
“They’ve provided us the opportunity to give women who have escaped domestic violence a safe and secure place to live.”
It’s partnerships like these that allow Habitat for Humanity to continue delivering practical support to individuals and families when they need it most.
Turning Support into Action
One of the defining features of the partnership has been ALAND’s commitment to getting involved beyond financial contributions.
Through Habitat for Humanity’s Brush with Kindness program, ALAND employees have volunteered their time to help create safer, more welcoming environments for people facing challenging circumstances.
Whether it’s painting walls, repairing fences, landscaping gardens or completing general maintenance, every project is an opportunity to make a practical difference while working alongside colleagues outside the office.
Reflecting on Brush with Kindness, Monique said it was one of the most rewarding aspects of the partnership.
“It was just a great way for not only the ALAND team to come together, but for us to really make a practical impact.”
The experience has strengthened not only the communities being supported but also the culture within ALAND itself, giving employees the opportunity to connect through a shared sense of purpose.
More Than Giving Back
For the ALAND Foundation, community partnerships have never been about simply writing a cheque.
They’re about building lasting relationships with organisations making a genuine difference every day.
They’re about creating opportunities for employees to contribute their time, skills and energy.
Most importantly, they’re about supporting people through practical initiatives that have a meaningful and lasting impact.

While the two-year anniversary is an important milestone, both organisations see it as just the beginning.

As the Foundation prepares for another exciting year of fundraising and volunteering, Monique encouraged the community to continue supporting the work being done through partnerships like this one.
“As some people may know, we have our annual ALAND Foundation Gala coming up on the 19th of September. I really encourage anyone who can attend to purchase a table or to donate on the night, so that we can continue partnering with organisations such as Habitat for Humanity.”
